Is it possible to solo play RO2 without mindless grinding? I mean, If I solo play by skipping the dungeons (dungeons are too hard on solo play) will the quests continue or will I have no quest because I skipped the dungeon quest. I'm trying to build a dps knight and I found out that dps knights are unwanted in parties as to why I ask this question. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you will run out of quests. You can remedy this by mindlessly grinding monster buster quests.

So I guess that's a no to your original question.

Too bad. If only a dps knight is more accepted in the society. I'm not that far into the game to find out on my own. Thanks for the answer.

I am afraid you can't do Kirito-style all the way. I know many people who play RO2 are driven by SAO Kirito and tries to solo but that wont be possible in some quests.

And in fact, partying up for dungeon quests is fun and the loot is rewarding if you get a drop for your class item. If you want to solo for all other quests beside dungeon quest, that is fine.

PS: there is this Khara quest that involves defeating a super monster like Lurker Fly, Vador, Vespa, Moonlight Flower and etc. These cannot be taken down solo unless you are at a very high level.

I think you can skip dungeon quests... that's kinda like what I did but I stil go to dungeon parties when I'm bored of doing the normal quests,

I'm now level 50 and still got plenty of quests... map, khara and dungeon quests like Hell/GhostShip/Sandstorm/Sandarm

Answer is actually yes. You don't have to do the dungeon quest, dungeon khara and khara boss fights. Just do the normal quest and non-dungeon khara challenges like killing certain number of normal mobs. You may need to kill a little more than required and do the daily.
When you finish all quest in the area/map, there's always a quest line that need you to visit someone in the next map. Those are never a requirement to complete any quest from dungeon.

One difficult quest is to kill Ambrosia 10 times. Can be done solo but very difficult. Takes me many repeat attempts just to kill once. A lot easier to party.

If you want to solo swordsman class is not for you because you will have a hard time killing mini quest bosses. Jobs that can heal usually can solo better priest/sorc/rogue/bm. If you like melee try bm or rogue. If you like magic try priest or sorc.

Still being tankier in this game helps you grind/solo mini bosses easier. The dps isnt really that much dif. DOT are good in this game and priest has 3, ranger has 4 but with double falcon and wiz has 2.

If you have time and patience you can solo to 50.
RO1 isn't RO2, Stop comparing them or expecting the same features.

I like partying, but a dps knight is hard to find parties as it is not accepted D:

I don't think people care that much how you play on field bosses right? It's just that dps knights are hard to find party in dungeon/raids.

why do you want to be a dps knight anyway? knights are strong even if they are a tanker.

I soloed 1-50, with the exception of killing world boss for khara title, when doing quest, i usually coupled it with monster buster (quest: go kill 10 mobs A, monster buster: go kill 11 monster A -> just kill 1 more mobs, etc). And when i reached 50, i actually have many normal quest not completed yet (also i haven't completed dungeons quest). And remember to complete khara as some of them give a lot of exp, that equal or even rival quest. So, according to your standards of grinding, no, you don't have to grind at all, but according to general player including me, the quest itself is a boring endless grind.

Moving on to TERA, they don't have "We're extending the maintenance for unforeseen issue" everytime they have maintenance,
and no P2W shop for the time being.

Won't a dps knight solo faster than a tank knight? If not I'm gonna have to create a new character or something since my build right now is fully offensive. LOL

Okay, thanks. Well, according to my perspective, at least the quests have story line, not that I read them all anyways but I got a sense of why I need to kill x number of mobs etc. It's just something to keep me going. =D

Yes the quest continue, I skipped all the dungeons from Secret Tomb to Fortress of Sandstorm dungeon. Just go to the next map and you will receive your new main quest along with the side quest for that particular map. Just make sure you are on the right level.

I'm currently lvl 49 and taking the main/side quests in Road of Bless.

If all the quest in log except dungeon quest is done and nothing show up on the map, move on to the next map. There will be some new quest in the new map, so you won't get lost or run out of quest. You can even skip the daily quest (one you take from board) if you want to (the title usually start with "Request"). Daily wont affect your progress but they gave bonus exp if you done it.

The order of the map is the order of the quest. South Plain > Izlud Hill > Payon Forest > Mapple Forest > Divided Plain > Verta Delta > Sogratt Desert > Road of Bless is the final map where the monsters are lvl 48-50.

I'm not sure but as I experienced, when I level up new side quest pop-up on my map without me finishing my current quest. It seems that there are certain level in which quest will be available.

One time when I'm not yet finished with the main quest and side quest in Verta Delta, when I looked on may map and click Sogratt Desert there is a quest waiting for me there.

By the way, I'm a solo DPS/Offtank Warrior, I was planning on getting to level 50 first and go back to the dungeons I skipped before. And for your topic, you will have a hard time partying in dungeons if you are planning to be a DPS Knight. Get a guild or friends to help you if you are still planning on being a DPS Knight

Lol @ Kirito-Mentality.

If you plan to solo everything, why play an online game in the 1st place? But, if you're soloing cuz you're having a hard time partying with others then that's another issue altogether.

I'd say it's possible, but by the time you're done, some random dude would have made 2 50's by then.

I dont think dps knight will solo faster than tank knight or vice versa. DPS knight higher dmg but less tanky so you get more dmg. Tank knight weaker abit more tanky. Both also overall i think will end up questing about the same speed. Since less tanky need to rest more.

Well, like I said earlier, I'm playing a DPS knight. The problem is not that I don't want to party with others, but it's hard for me to find a party and before you ask "why not be a tank knight then?" I'll make a pre-emptive answer. It's an MMORPG right? SO I should be able to build my character anyway I want but the problem is the mentaity of the community who can never accept a character that is made differing from the current trend (e.g. most if not all knights, monks and BMs are considered as tanks)

Well, when you put it that way, maybe I'll go for a full tank knight -3-

Tank is hard to level solo, at least when i level my knight, i gave up midways as its really pot hungry and it take so long to kill mobs solo. When i moved to dps class, i kill much faster and without using pot except against elites mob. That way, i saved a lot for pot and buy cheaper food instead.

There is player that complain that we 'solo' player should never play mmo, this is stupid. I played solo for a reason, i have friends to help me actually, we help each other doing dungeons. But outside of that, i played 'solo' because most player rotten mentality, so, while stupid player elsewhere QQ-ing ninja, stupid afk, and many other bad stuff happened. I soloed, and even enjoyed cutscene in game without being told to skip it and such. I can played on my own pace, and not bother others. I'm not playing game to complete it and break the stupid time record, i'm playing it to enjoy whatever the game have, and by solo leveling, it gave me the best experience so far. I helped a friend leveling his main once, while i one shot every mob that came in way, he actually take half an hour to complete his quest (i count that with my buff duration), and i hate waiting him reading everything, run around picking stuff, and i guess, the same thing will happened to me if i am the one who is leveling.

The problem with a DPS knight is that as melee character, you tend to take more damage, meaning a higher burden on the healer. Second, the DPS of a knight does not match up to the DPS of other melee characters. A sin or rogue would output much more DPS than a knight. Third, having a DPS knight would mean that your party would have to find a non-knight tank, since you wouldn't want to be fighting for loot with another knight. Tanks tend to be harder to find, so taking a DPS knight would mean your party leader would have to search for longer.

The reason I play a DPS knight. :D

THIS. This is the exact reason I liked to play solo. THIS, and people who can't accept a character that is created outside of the trend. I wanna play and build my character how I like. It's supposed to be my choice isn't it?

I like the armor models of the knight and his skills look awesome, but I don't like playing tank as I have problems to keep the aggro on me D:

True that, I solo a lot but when I go to dungeons and hard quest I party with others. I have 30 active friends who are currently playing and I help them and they help me. This is just a game, if you want to solo/party its up to you. Let's all enjoy the game.
